Jaimie & Richard

An Intimate Downtown Elopement | Des Moines, Iowa

October 4, 2024

Jaimie & Richard celebrated their love with an intimate ceremony on the steps of the Des Moines State Capitol with their very best people - Richard's two daughters and Jaimie's mother. It was a beautiful way to focus on what really mattered - joining together as one official family!

Both Jaimie and Richard got ready at the stunning Surety Hotel in downtown Des Moines. Jaimie's dress was absolutely beautiful and made her look like a princess from a fairytale. And of course, Richard looked very dapper in his suit. His daughter's both excelled in their roles of Best Man and Maid of Honor and ensured that Richard and Jaimie looked their absolute best as they got ready. They shared their First Look together as a family and the excitement of what was all to come was palpable. After one quick drink at the iconic Mulberry Street Tavern, they were on their way to the front steps of the State Capitol to make it all official.

Their ceremony was beautiful and emotional - full of lots of laughter, handwritten vows, and happy tears (which apparently the girls had taken bets on who would cry first!). The renowned State Law Library provided a classy backdrop for signing their marriage license as well as Jaimie & Richard's first portraits as husband and wife. Back on the front lawn of the capitol, the couple shared heartfelt letters to their favorite people, which no doubt will become a treasured heirloom for each of the girls. After a few portraits together as a family, Jaimie & Richard slipped away for some alone time and couple's portraits. Richard's 1964 Grand Prix totally nailed the vibe and got its moment in the spotlight, too! They ended their night with a private dinner with their girls and plans to celebrate with all of their family and friends at a reception back home later that month.

Richard & Jaimie's wedding day was elegant, classy, and so incredibly joy-filled. It was truly an honor to capture their ceremony and everything Jaimie had envisioned.

Congrats to the Nichols family!!
